There weren’t many garage sales this week and I didn’t get to the thrift stores, but I still got some great bargains.
First off, there is a local department store that is going out of business. You may have seen the silver fabric that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. This week I grabbed this nice little chair and a big box of bamboo.
The chair and the bamboo cost me a whopping $15. I have already sanded the chair down and sprayed it glossy black. (darn, I always forget to take either the before or after pics!)
Next up was World Market. They had a big sign outside that said CLEARANCE. I don’t know about you, but I am like Pavlov’s dogs when I see a clearance sign, I salivate. We just had to go in and check things out.
All of their clearance stuff was 50% off. I was in heaven, it was like music to my ears, I was on cloud nine….you get the point?
Here I picked up a vase that I had been searching for years for. I wanted a tall vase to go next to my dreaded TV, anything to make that honker stick out less.
Vase $6 and that is the bamboo that I picked up at the department store. (I know that there is too much in there, but it is serving as storage for the moment)
The cutest felt basket for $5. It is about 16” X 16” and hides the ugly blanket that is so warm that I can’t get rid of it.
So, I am singing the blues because I didn’t get to go real thrifting this week, but I think that I did well.
Please stop by Rhoda’s Thrifty Treasures at Southern Hospitality for more great finds this week. The posts will make you want to get out there yourself!
P.S. I know that my pictures need some work, I am working with a borrowed camera until my new charger gets here.

I hear ya! I see a clearance sign in a store and I'm heading toward it first. My husband will go along and chase me down (see I said chase?) and say, "I thought we were going to look at such and such. Where are you going?" He does not understand the concept of the word clearance to a woman. Apparently it is not as inherent in a man's genes!

I hope I get to see a picture of that chair, I paint everything black (that needs painted)
Great work - I could certainly find a home for a couple of those felt baskets. I've clearly been neglecting my shopping duties.
That's a great chair, and I love the look of the bamboo in that vase! Great finds!
Hey Gwen !
I don't feel the same when I haven't thrifted for a while either....You will get to go soon !
Hugs ! Kammy
What great stuff! How fun!
m ^..^
You got some great deals, even if they didn't come from "thrift" stores! Love the red.
Great deals! ALWAYS love a clearance sale! The chair would look great in black! Thanks for sharing ... and come visit if you get a chance!
Great finds! LOVE clearance sales!
Very nice finds, Gwen. Thanks for joining the party.
Packaged Crickets? Live? No wonder I don't fish! I'm sure Murphy Grace was very proud of his find and wanted to share!
Sunny has been known to steal things if he isn't getting the attention he wants. If we're outside working and won't play with him all of a sudden we'll realize we're missing a hammer or something and turn around and there he his with it in his mouth daring us to chase him!
It's a good thing they can be as loveable as they are mischievious!

I want to see that chair though. You're teasing us by telling us that you painted it, but not showing us the picture. It's not too late to go and take a picture. It is an after picture. Please?
Love that bundle of bamboo! I so wish we had a World Market...such a great store.

I have chairs similar to that- you know, the white and natural. Did you have a hard time sanding? I have been wanting to strip mine and paint them black. Did you distress yours a little?
