Blogging About Blogging

I have spent a lot of time asking myself questions lately. You know, those basic questions that I probably should have answered a long time ago, but I am a super late bloomer.

Here are some of the things that are zinging through my brain at all hours:

  • What do I want to be when I grow up?
  • What are my passions?
  • What sort of time commitment do these passions take?
  • How do I organize and compartmentalize all of it?
  • What sort of $$ do they suck up?
  • What are my goals for my blogs, yes, I have two and they are on totally different subjects. MurphyGrace Home and Chew & Digest Books
  • Then, I have tried to figure out how much time and energy I can devote to all that up there and keep my family happy and my health in check.
  • Lastly, I have been trying to determine what I want to achieve with blogging , especially doing it split in two, like I have been doing. (One Creative Blog and One on Books)

I haven’t come up with most of the answers yet, but until I do, I am going to continue to be kicking it up a notch in both facets of my life until I either explode or decide to merge the two and hope that everyone can get a long.

All of the Blissdom hoopla really made a few of us realize that we want to aim higher with our blogs. Monica, from Monica Wants it , Christy, from Embellished Bayou and I really want to go to Blissdom ‘11. We want to go from D List bloggers to B List bloggers. Perhaps go to

I am hoping that by setting this goal, we we get out of our pants without zippers and step up to the plate.

My tools in this goal so far is a copy of Blogging For Bliss by Tara Frey and all of the great resources found at Sneaky Momma Blog Design, and ProBlogger.

I am still pretty fuddled with frankly, I suck at making goals, so please excuse my dust and crazy antics until I learn just where I fit in around here!

Do you have goals for your blog? What sort of goals are they or is your blog totally for pleasure, marketing your crafts, etc?

Please, pretty please, help a blogger out! I will share some of this fabulous Dark Chocolate Bundt Cake with lemon, chocolate and fresh strawberry icing with you:)

Ah, yes, the bloggy question. I had no real goals when I started blogging and wish I'd thought a bit harder about why I was doing it, and done a bit more research on how many AWESOME blogs are out there that I could never hope to mimic, especially (gulp) while holding down a day job.

Wishing you all good things with figuring it out and that you make it to Blissdom '11. With Murphy Grace as your cheerleader, how can you fail?!

Hi Gwen! My blog is simply for my own pleasure! I enjoy visiting with my bloggy friends and have been fortunate to meet some of them in person...like old friends! If I had to make goals I think I would stop blogging...too much like a job! lol It took a while for me to get to that comfortable place with it, though...about a year. I usualy post only once a week and try not to let it eat up too much of my real life time. Good luck with dealing with your questions!...Debbie

Ah, blog goals. I'm awesome at making goals! I just suck at working toward them. haha.
I don't know what I want to be when I grow up either, but I'm searching for those answers.
I think that if your goal is blog growth and you are aiming for blissdom '11 then you can and will absolutely make it there!
I wish you nothing but good fortune this year, Gwen.

Oh, and I have the same exact plates (but mine don't have that ridiculously yummy-looking cake sitting on them. ;)

My blog goal is to have a place where I present the graphics I have rescued or created. I did that already, pretty successfully. But the focus became too other-oriented, so I began anew.

Goals? Honestly, I've never thought about any goals with my blogging. I just started doing it recently because it's the kind of stuff I speak with my friends about sometimes. And also I do enjoy reading other peoples stuff, so I figured I might as well have a blog myself.

I guess I'll be quite content with staying on the blogging D-list. :)

I'm afraid I'm not very goal oriented. I blog to keep myself from going crazy. It's my creative outlet. I've always enjoyed writing and photography so blogging gives me a chance to PLAY at being a writer/photographer. I love seeing all the cool stuff everyone else gets accomplished while I'm still trying to find matching socks and get the dog hair off the kids.

Making awesome friends has been an unexpected side-effect!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Do I still get cake?
Hugs,
Dawn

I am so screwed up with this blog naming thing. It has been a week and I still can't think of a decent name for the music blog that I want to start and get going. I need some inspiration.

All questions I've asked myself lately too! I've decided that I'm probably just too lazy to answer them all right now, though, LOL!

When I started my blog, I really did it just to promote my Etsy shop, but it's become so much more than that. I'd love to become a "famous" A-List blogger, but that takes a lot of time, and effort and I'm not sure I'm at a point in my life when I want to devote so much time to it, ya know? I never want to neglet my husband or other activities just so I can spend hours doing blog posts, uploading pictures, etc. I figure I'll stop/slow down blogging when it's not fun anymore or when I just don't have time anymore (probably when kids come into the picture).

Good luck! If you're not going to mail us cake, you should at least post the recipe!

I'm going to BlogHer -- come with me! :) I have to tell you -- I have not set any goals for my blog. I think sometimes it's better not to think about it too much. Does that make sense? Just doing what you love and writing what you love is best -- then you will always love it and people will love you for being you. Just being yourself will get you so much further!!

Hi Gwen:
Thanks for stopping by my blog tonight!
As far as goals for my blog.....I started my blog because I had all of these projects I would create and no feedback (my husband and son don't count here), blogging gave me an outlet to share what I had created with like-minded people. Hopefully I'll have a few interesting projects that will keep people visiting.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
Jane
